An online workshop to explore the bedroom as a space for the resurgence of the authentic creative self.

(Limited spots available) Join us on Sunday February 11 at 6pm (UK time) for an online workshop on the creative and psychic labour done in the bedroom. Hosted by artist and academic, Nouf Alhimiary, the online workshop will give attendees the opportunity to participate from their own bedrooms to create an immersive and personal experience.

By exploring the bedroom as a site for knowledge production, investigating the intersection of virtual and physical spaces in the bedroom, participants can understand the impact of the bedroom on our subconscious and in turn our creative practices. Through a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge production potential of the bedroom.

Online Workshops are held monthly as part of Commun People, a programme that advocates for emerging BIPOC voices to participate in the Arts while strengthening their skills and widening their employment opportunities. By encouraging critical discourse, peer mentoring, practical and creative development, the programme will support BIPOC voices to develop their practice and overcome often exclusionary barriers to initiating or sustaining a career in the Arts.

Nouf Alhimiary is an experienced artist and researcher who specialises in the intersection of feminist and creative methods of knowledge production. Alhimiary is a PhD candidate at UCL, and a visiting researcher at Yale university. Her work has been shown in Venice Biennial, the British Museum, Utah MOCA, Bates Museum of Art, Sharjah Museum of Art, Alserkal Avenue among others. She has facilitated talks, tutorials and workshops at NYU Abu Dhabi, Yale University, Bates College, the Mosaic Rooms among others. Alhimiary has a deep understanding of the importance of personal space in creative practice, and is passionate using creativity as a tool for resurgence and resilience.
